Instructions: TT Topsealer (Presealer / Pro+ / Dragon / WT) #
Overview of sealers #
TT – Topsealer Dragon
Topciment’s strongest water-based polyurethane sealer.
Most popular choice for bathrooms.
Always applied with two coats of TT Presealer or Pro-Plus, followed by two coats of Topsealer.
Suitable for all areas.
TT – Topsealer WT
Water-based polyurethane sealer.
Applied with two coats of TT Presealer or Pro-Plus, followed by two coats of Topsealer.
Suitable for all areas.
Pro-Plus (pre-treatment)
Special presealer used before Dragon or WT.
Provides a thicker protective film against stains and standing water.
Important: this film may reduce the natural feel of the material.
Advantage: better preserves gloss on Pure Metall.
Important: Pigment according to Pro-Plus in the app to achieve the correct color.
Why the sealer is crucial #
The sealer is the most important step in the microcement system.
Correct application provides strong resistance to water, scratches, and wear.
Incorrect application results in insufficient protection.
Always use Microstar rollers or Anza Platinum Pro.
Problems that have occurred almost always stem from using other rollers.
Preparation before sealing #
Sanding #
Sand the surface thoroughly – it will not become smoother after the first coat of sealer.
Good lighting is essential.
Spend extra time on sanding before sealing.
Walls: a perfectly smooth surface is not always desired. Always show a sample to the client.
Floors: irregularities look sloppy, especially with strong light exposure. Always aim for a perfect finish unless otherwise agreed.
Inner corners: check carefully – poorly sanded corners will be very visible.
Recommended grit sizes:
Base: K40 (K80 by hand)
Deck: K80 (K120 by hand)
Fino: K120 (K240 by hand)
Cleaning #
Vacuum the surface with a brush nozzle to avoid wheel marks.
Be careful with cables – they can leave marks.
Finish with a dry microfiber cloth.
The surface must be completely dust-free – especially important on light colors where dust can darken under the sealer.
Step 1: Application of Presealer or Pro-Plus #
Presealer #
Preparation: can be applied the day after the final cement layer.
Roller: 8 mm Microstar roller (lint-free, 6–8 mm nap).
Number of coats: 2 coats with 3–4 hours between them.
Improves adhesion for the Topsealer.
Prevents discoloration of the microcement.
Reuse: a clean roller can be stored in a bag or sleeve for both coats.
Application technique
Always apply “wet-on-wet.”
Walls:
Start in a corner.
Brush only edges/corners of the area you will roll immediately (approx. 50 cm at a time).
Be careful with drips – more likely on the second coat as absorption is lower.
Floors:
Start at the far end of the room.
Work in sections of approx. 1 meter.
Apply generously but avoid puddles.
Spillage:
Any spillage not rolled out immediately can cause permanent stains (like water stains).
Always cover the floor when sealing walls, and use protection under the tray when sealing floors.
Pro-Plus #
Preparation: can be applied the day after the final cement layer. Replaces Presealer.
Purpose: provides increased resistance to liquids and stains.
Mixing:
0.8 kg component A + 0.64 kg component B.
Pot life: 10–15 minutes.
Covers approx. 14 m².
Drying time:
Let dry approx. 6 hours before sealing with Dragon/WT.
Lightly sand the surface with K400 before applying Topsealer.
Application technique
Roller: 4 mm lint-free or foam roller.
Apply in a very thin coat – not generously.
A thick coat will create a bumpy surface.
Spills/drips cannot be sanded away.
Work the product thoroughly into the microcement.
Must be applied extremely thin – very difficult to overwork.
When it dries, it becomes mirror glossy.
Note: a matt sealer is always applied on top to create a matt finish.
Step 2: TT Topsealer WT / Dragon #
Preparation #
When the second coat of Presealer has dried (12 h):
Lightly sand the surface with K400.
Wipe with a microfiber cloth.
Mixing #
Two-component water-based polyurethane sealer.
Mixing ratio: 5 parts A + 1 part B.
Shake both components thoroughly – preferably 20–30 min before use (not immediately before).
Filter component A through a sieve/net to avoid lumps.
Stir slowly with a stick or mixer.
Let stand for approx. 3 minutes before application.
Pot life: approx. 45 minutes.
Coverage: approx. 0.06 kg/m².
If coverage is significantly less – apply an extra coat in shower areas.
Application technique #
Roller: 8 mm Microstar or similar lint-free roller (6–8 mm nap).
Always apply wet-on-wet to avoid streaks.
Cross-rolling (very important):
Work on areas of 1–2 m² at a time.
First roll from right to left with firm pressure on the roller.
Immediately after, roll from top to bottom with firm pressure.
Finish by lightly rolling over to even out and remove streaks.
Cross-rolling ensures an even coat, better protection, and correct coverage.
Using the wrong roller can ruin the result – always use Microstar.
Remember: all protection against stains and dirt lies in the sealer. This step is critical.
Drying times #
Between coats: 12–24 hours.
Do not use heaters – the room should be well ventilated.
Intermediate sanding:
After 12–24 hours, lightly sand with K400.
Wipe with a dry microfiber cloth before applying the next coat.
Final curing time: see Care & Maintenance.
