Mixing Instructions in the App
These are instructions for how to use the mixing app. For instructions on how the different products should be mixed, please read the product information on the website.
Tips for the page to fill in (see further down for the calculation page):
- Select the color you will be applying
- Select the material
- Will you mix the whole bucket at once?
Choose YES if you are mixing the entire bucket at once – usually done only for floor areas. In bathrooms, for example, you normally mix 1/2 or 1/3 of a bucket at a time.
If you chose YES and will use the whole bucket, skip to step 9. Otherwise, go to step 5.
If you chose NO, you will be asked whether you pigmented a full bucket when you did the pigmentation. Select YES if you pigmented a whole bucket and NO if you pigmented a smaller amount of cement at a time.
We always recommend pigmenting a full bucket to ensure the correct color. With smaller amounts, the shade may vary slightly. This can be useful, for example, for the first layer if you want to save material or if you are making samples (keep in mind the potential color variation).
If you selected YES, skip to step 8. If you did not pigment a whole bucket, skip to step 7.
- Enter how many kg of Component A you pigmented.
Example: if you only pigmented 2.5 kg, write that here.
This is not the amount you will mix now, but the amount of cement that was pigmented.
- How much will you mix now?
Enter the amount of cement you will use now. For example, if you will use 1 kg out of the 2.5 kg pigmented earlier, write 1 kg. If you will use all 2.5 kg, write 2.5 kg. - How much water did you add when you pigmented the cement?
Exactly as it sounds—enter the amount of water you added during pigmentation. - How many % water do you want in the total mix?
Most products require between 3 and 10% water.- Microbase XT: 2–3% for more coverage, 4–6% for a thinner layer.
- Coarse: 4–6% for walls, 5–6% for floors. With our rubber trowel technique, you can use 7-8%.
- Medium: 3–5% for walls, 4–6% for floors. When rolling or applying Microstone, use 7-8%.
- Smooth: 3–5% for walls, 4–6% for floors.
- Trowel X Base: Always 4–6%.
- Trowel X L: Always 4–4.5%.
!! Never use more then 10% of the total amount of comp a+b. In other words, never more then 100g of water /kg a+b including the amount added when pigmenting but excluding the pigments added. !!
Calculation page:
At the top you will see the material, color, and calculation data used to determine what you should add. Always check that this matches what you entered.
It is important that the material has rested for at least 1 hour after adding the pigment. The product must re-cure before the hardener can be added. The time this takes depends largely on how much water was added. Ideally, pigment the day before.
- Amount of hardener to add:
Mix the calculated amount of hardener into the material. The hardener must always be mixed and stirred with the cement before adding water. - Amount of water to add:
Depending on the % of water you selected, the app will calculate how much additional water to add to the mix to reach that percentage. You do not need to subtract the water already added—the app has done that for you.
