Instructions: DC Titan Presealer / Titan Cream / Titan Topsealer #
Overview #
DC – Titan Topsealer
Our own water-based polyurethane sealer.
Faster drying time compared to Topciment sealers.
Especially recommended in basements as it is more breathable.
Can be used on all indoor surfaces.
Requires no intermediate sanding if the next coat is applied within 8 hours.
Titan Presealer / Titan Cream
Priming products used before Titan Topsealer.
Can be applied on both walls and floors.
Provides good adhesion and protection against liquids.
Titan Cream is particularly recommended for bathroom floors as it gives better resistance to water stains.
Important about the sealing process #
The sealer is crucial for final protection – all resistance against water, stains, and dirt comes from the sealer.
Always follow the instructions carefully to avoid mistakes.
Always use the recommended rollers (Microstar 8 mm or equivalent lint-free).
Preparation before sealing #
Sanding #
Sand the surface thoroughly – it will not become smoother after the first coat of sealer.
Proper lighting is essential.
Spend extra time on sanding before starting the sealing process.
Walls: a perfectly smooth surface is not always desired. Always show a sample to the customer.
Floors: irregularities will look sloppy, especially on surfaces with strong light exposure. Always aim for a perfect finish unless agreed otherwise.
Inner corners: check carefully – poorly sanded corners will be very visible.
Recommended grit sizes:
Base: K40 (K80 by hand)
Deck: K80 (K120 by hand)
Fino: K120 (K240 by hand)
Cleaning #
Vacuum the surface using a brush nozzle to avoid wheel marks.
Be careful with cables – they can leave marks.
Finish with a dry microfiber cloth.
The surface must be completely dust-free – especially important on light colors, where dust can darken and show through the sealer.
Titan Presealer / Titan Cream #
Preparation #
Can be applied the day after the final cement coat has been applied.
Mixing & dilution #
Titan Presealer: dilute with 10–20% water.
10% for residential floors.
20% when used on bathroom walls.
Titan Cream: dilute with 20% water (recommended for bathroom floors to improve resistance against water stains).
Number of coats #
Apply 1–2 coats with 2–3 hours between them.
In bathrooms: always apply 2 coats, both diluted with 20% water.
On other surfaces: 1 coat is sufficient, diluted with 10% water.
Application #
Roller: 8 mm lint-free.
Brush edges and corners on a small area at a time to avoid drying before rolling.
Application technique #
Always apply “wet-on-wet.”
On walls: start in a corner, brush only the area to be rolled immediately (approx. 50 cm), avoid drips (especially common on the second coat when absorption is lower).
On floors: start in the far end of the room, work in sections of approx. 1 meter, apply generously but avoid puddles.
Spillage: any spillage not rolled out immediately can cause permanent stains (similar to water stains).
Always cover the floor when sealing walls.
Use protection under the tray when sealing floors.
Titan Topsealer #
Mixing #
Shake the container with both components for approx. 20 minutes before use to avoid air bubbles.
Mixing ratio: 5 parts A + 1 part B + 10% water.
Important:
First mix A + B thoroughly.
Add water last and stir until completely even.
If done in the wrong order, the material will clump and become unusable.
Pot life #
The mixture has a working time of approx. 45 minutes.
Drying time between coats #
3–4 hours.
If more than 8 hours pass between coats:
Lightly sand the surface with K400 before applying the next coat.
Application technique #
Roller: 8 mm Microstar or equivalent lint-free roller (8 mm nap).
Always apply wet-on-wet to avoid streaks.
Cross-rolling (very important):
Work on 1–2 m² at a time.
First roll from right to left with firm pressure on the roller.
Immediately after, roll from top to bottom with the same pressure.
Finish by lightly rolling over to remove streaks.
Cross-rolling ensures an even coat, better protection, and correct coverage.
Using the wrong roller can ruin the result – always use Microstar.
Remember: all protection against stains and dirt lies in the sealer. This step is critical.
Final curing time #
For final use of the surface – see separate section Care & Maintenance.
